Assignments Interflora World Cup - Wang Hsiang Chun, Taiwan

The first event, Designers Choice is themed "Flowers on the Orient".  Contestants will complete a design up to 1.2 metres deep and wide and 2.25 metres high within 2 hours.

On the same day they will have their artistic flair tested again with a  "Surprise Item" which they will complete in just over an hour.  This is an exciting test of how spontaneous these designers from around the world can be with only 15 minutes to view the various items presented to them and create something amazing.


Assignment 1: Flowers on the Orient.
What can you tell us about your "Flowers on the Orient" creation?

 "The structure originates from the imagery of meant scriptures in ancient China.  A Chinese painting appears vividly in front of us.  The inwardness of the Orient, with an atmosphere of Wabi-sabi, tranquility, and natural processes, flows among the foliages and flowers.

What do you consider typical flowers of the orient? (Do you like to work with them?)

 "Orchid, Yes I like the orchid very much.

Taiwan has many beatiful orchids, our orchid export around the world, it is many different varieties, and very nice for me to make the right choice i terms of  the right color for my design."

Which aspect(s) of this arrangement makes it typically your design? (Flowers on the Orient.)

I would like to show the nature branch in my design, I think to use the most beautiful flower shape is to respect the flower I use, I like to show the best line of each material, and I think this is also the typical way of arranging the flower in Orient.

Assignment: Create within the time allowed an in store display for the famous Shanghai Tang Clothing and Accessories Store. Your design should reflect the vibrancy and contemporary ambience of this retail outlet.
